February the 1st, 2019 saw the opening of Heritage House, specifically the 1910 – Bar and Coffee Shop.

The 1910 Bar and Coffee Shop was named after the year construction began on Springkell Sanatorium, that was then opened in 1911 to nurse patients with lung ailments.  It was renamed Heritage House and under the guidance of the Provincial Heritage Resources Authority of Gauteng, is in the process of being renovated and refurbished, and it forms the integral center of Heritage Estate community.

Residents were invited for sundowners and to look at the new amenities including the Wellness Hub and observation room, as well as the pool and darts activity room, and the Home Theatre.  Further activity rooms will open during the course of the year including the reception, salon, library/cards room, kitchen, The Gatsby private dining room, The Linton restaurant, business center, caretakers office, sales office and pilates/yoga/function hall.

The Pavilion remains available to residents for functions and concerts as well as what is becoming the regular Friday evening braai.
