Heritage Estates offers residents assisted living through TruCare – Age-well solutions.
“The move toward preventative care in the Estate, with home based care options, is in line with the development all over the world.” says Marina Constas – director of BBM Attorneys and specialist sectional title attorney. “Accommodation for the elderly is increasingly moving away from nursing home style facilities towards independent living”
Assisted living is also known as midcare or supported living. In most cases here, the resident will continue living in his/her own unit but will be assisted and given support with respect to cleaning service, personal hygiene, administration of medicines, a 24-hour on call nurse and dietician-qualified meals. Home based care often delays the need for frail care – which is expensive due to staff being on call 24 hours a day. The health and mental well-being of residents in frail care declines much faster than those who remain in their own surrounds.
Heritage Estate will provide a health center in Heritage House that will comprise a nurses’ station and emergency stabilization room, but is designed to offer assisted living – including nursing care – that is offered in ones’ own home. This is the concept of “aging in place” in the community. The assisted living service also means residents only buy the services they require from the care provider – TruCare Age-Well Solutions. This is advantageous to the healthy spouse of an ill partner – they can enlist the services of home based services to help with ie: cleaning or bathing. TruCare offers care, catering and cleaning services and allows residents to stay in their units to get the healthcare and other services they need.
TruCare has trained nurses who provide nursing care and all sectional title units will be equipped with a panic button to call on assistance should it be required.
TruCare also offers an initial assessment of the individual residents to establish their current level of health and wellness. They then offer an indivualised wellness plan to promote health and wellbeing and offer advice and yearly assessments. They will manage the care service where required.
The health center will offer primary health services – that are covered by a levy – such as unlimited visits to monitor vital signs (blood pressure, pulse and temperature) and collection of blood samples as per doctor’s requests. There will be monthly services of measuring blood glucose levels and urine testing; and yearly cholesterol checkups. TruCare will also provide general advice on health related issues and home visits if required, as well as risk assessments on health and safety aspects as a preventative measure and early detection of health related problems.
TruCare will then also offer cleaning, laundry, home care services in the case of frail care needs and a sick bay for post-operative and respite care – these services will all be billed for separately and will be for the account of the individual resident requiring these services.
Heritage Estate is a fore runner for assisted living in a Mature Lifestyle Estate.
